Hi, I am Vanessa!
I have been married to my very best friend for 10 years! We have the most precious two-year old, Graylyn, who we believe hung the moon and one on the way! We’ve also recently started a new and growing business, Pate Films x Media. To be completely honest, I never in a million years thought I would be so in love with filmmaking. I really wasn’t sure how I was going to play a role in this business, but the Lord quickly reminded me of my own passions & gifts! So, for starters, I am in charge of communications behind everything in our business including social media, email, website, consultations, and wedding day encouragement. That’s all me and I LOVE it!!! It’s my favorite part! I love connecting with the bride & groom and building a relationship with them. I truly believe the Lord places every single couple in our path & I take that to heart! On the wedding day, I am Bryan’s second shooter, I capture all the close-ups! After the wedding day, I am in charge of organizing all the footage and picking out the best clips for the wedding video & finding the vision behind some of our B-roll. After that, Bryan takes over and brings together the most beautiful stories (I will let him talk more about that in detail)! Lastly, we work hard at capturing everything with the most natural color grade! Ultimately, my passion is doing something together and building community & relationship with the people around me, and that’s exactly what I get to do here!

But seriously, I’ve been into videography for about 8 years now, and it all began when I bought my very first video camera, a GoPro Hero 3. I was blown away by the quality of video that it could capture (spoiler: it actually was pretty terrible). After messing around with that for a few months, I bought another camera…and then another…and another…and more…and so on and so forth. I quickly came to the conclusion that I may have chosen the most expensive hobby there is while also realizing that I didn’t care, because I loved it that much. What attracts me to videography the most is the ability to tell people’s stories in a way that is both creative and genuine….that and capturing bomb looking video. Also, getting to do this with Vanessa is pretty cool. So, if it’s your dream to have a husband and wife creeping around filming the most important day of your life, then we’re your people (trust me, the end result is so worth it).
My job at Pate Films x Media is to do whatever Vanessa tells me, which means filming, editing, color grading (with Vanessa’s input, because plot twist…I’m color blind), exporting, and then taking a very long nap. Basically, anything that doesn’t involve having to be the main point of contact with clients, because Vanessa says I’m awkward.
